The third annual MAK Agility Camp was a community event where kids ages 7-18 showed up to the new Tiger Stadium on Saturday morning and participated in speed, coordination and movement drills.
“I really enjoyed the community coming out and showing their support of this event,” Said Herbert Jones, co-founder of the camp. “I’m a community person and taught school for 10 years so I just love giving the kids something to do.
Organizers said they had as many as 130 signed up, but 85 attended this past weekend according to Jones.
“We actually had a lot more register,” Jones said. “But I’m glad it worked out that way because we wouldn’t have had enough volunteers to work with many more kids.
The young athletes rotated around eight stations that included lateral running and high-knee drills that were focused at improving their speed, agility and movement.
“Some of the kids have been doing these drills over the summer and some haven’t,” Jones said. “But none of them quit.
“I wanted the kids to realize that they can do anything they put their mind to.”
