Thorndale improved to 10-1 after taking down Granger 8-2 on the road Monday evening.

The game was close throughout, with the Bulldogs putting up one run in every inning from the second through the sixth and GHS scoring a run in the third and the fifth.

Going into the seventh up 5-2, THS added some insurance with three more runs scored. First, Hunter Thigpen got on base when Granger’s third baseman Tanner Wilkie dropped a pop fly. Hunter Clark then got on base with a single and Carter Brymer helped load the bases after getting hit by a pitch.

Thorndale scored all three runs after Kaden Kovar, Logan Davis and Coy Stutts all walked and won their fifth straight district contest 8-2.

Davis led at the mound with 11 strikeouts in seven innings.

LAST WEEK—Six days earlier, the Bulldogs defeated Bartlett 21-0.

THS scored 16 runs in the third inning with hits from Clark, Stutts, Layton Mogford and Bryson Beran. Davis also had a home run.

Beran led at the mound with eight strikeouts in three innings and Mogford struck out two in two innings.

THIS WEEK—Thorndale wrapped up their series with Granger at THS after press time.

Following the conclusion of their series with the Lions, Thorndale finishes up district play with a series against rival Thrall.

Until this Monday, the Tigers were ranked as high as seventh in Class 2A by Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

This comes after a 12-10 home loss to Holland Friday in a game that the Tigers came into undefeated.

Friday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Thorndale.
