Despite facing tough Class 6A competition on Saturday, Tiger track still left Fort Bend’s Ranger Relays with some hardware.

RHS freshman Timothy Grice placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.5, beating out competitors from schools such as Sharpstown, Brazosport and Killeen Ellison.

His teammates Alec Silva and Darren Carter also placed in the 200. Silva finished 15th with a time of 24.25 and Carter placed 18th with a time of 24.82.

Other Tiger runners were Jesus Bocanegra, who started the season off with a 5:10 in the mile, placing 10th out of 23. RHS junior Robert Owens placed eighth in the 100-meter dash with an 11.83.

RHS track coach Chris Van Cleave complimented his team, saying that they “overcame early adversity” after their sprint relay team dropped a baton in one of the meet’s first races.

THIS WEEK—Tiger runners are back on the track Thursday, when they head south to Ganado with the entire team.
