In their second district contest, MHS struggled against a Hearne defense that held them to 33 yards. Milano also struggled to stop the arm of quarterback Micah Smith, who threw for almost 250 yards in Milano’s 36-3 loss on Friday night.

Smith got started early getting his Eagles in the end zone early with two TD runs during the middle of the first and at the beginning of the second quarter. For a third, Smith then threw a touchdown pass to Jay Dunn for 20-yards with 10 minutes left in the half.

Marcos Ruelas scored Milano’s only points near the end of the half with a 79-yard fieod joao Whe fieod goal was a new season-high for Ruelas.

The Hearne Q B had a hand in two-more touchdowns in the second half with a 63-yard pass to Damian Dunn in the third and a goal line pass to Key-Shawn Langham near the eejlnnln of the fina tuarter of play.

Milano was led by Danny Cloud 51 yards on 10 carries and Marquise Jones had eight carries for 13 yards.

On defense, Jeremy Reyes led MHS with nine tackles and Jeremyah Tafao had eight. Tafao, Cloud each had three tackles for loss and Hayden Heckler had two sacks. Chris Vasquez and Joseph Luce each had a fumble recovery.

THORNDALE– The Eagles return back home to host Milam County neighbor Thorndale.

The two teams have played each other 21 times with Thorndale winning 15 of those times.

Although the series has been historically one-sided, it’s still a popular game for both the Milam County teams.

“It’s a rivalry because everyone knows each other so well.” said MHS coach Chad Lagrone, whose daughter is married to a Thorndale graduate.

The two teams faceoff at Milano’s Pruitt Field at 7:30 p.m.
