This past weekend, incoming Rockdale Junior High sixth-grader Jordyn Huff competed at the 2022 Summer Games of Texas at Corpus Christi’s Cabaniss Stadium, where she took home a bronze medal in the long jump. The Lady Tiger leaped a distance of 14-07.50 and also placed 32nd overall in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:11.08. Other Rockdale student athletes competing in
Other Rockdale student athletes competing in South Texas this past weekend were Tiger seniors Robert Owens and Tristan Galvan.
The two RHS students teamed up with Rosebud-Lott’s Jamarquis Johnson and Cameron’s Trayjen Wilcox to form a sprint relay team that ran a time of 44.16 in the prelims on Saturday. The four didn’t advance to Sunday’s finals.
Owens also competed in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 11.2, not too long after running the third leg on the relay.
The Cameron-based track-and-field club CTX 5.0 that all three Rockdalians are a part of is coached by Dez Banham, Damon Flemings and Isaiah Logan.
