The Rockdale High School baseball team played in their first home scrimmage on Tuesday night against Holland.
“I thought we looked really good,” said John Hooser, RHS baseball coach. “A lot of our guys are able to play a lot of positions and that’s one of our strengths it looks like.”
The Tigers tried out six pitchers during the game Tyler Caldwell, Jose Young, Hagen Land, Ryan Blair and Tyler Richardson.
“Since we were playing six-out innings, we tried to keep the pitch count between under forty pitches,” Hooser said. “Jose Young got out of the inning he pitched with twenty-eight, and we wanted to put him back out there.
“I’m excited about this group, we have a lot of seniors that have been on varsity at least three years and we have three young players that can really be big for us this year. I think we’ll surprise some folks.”
Freshmen Drayton Castaneda and Tra’on Crawford and sophomore Ryan Blair are ready to play on varsity, according to Hooser.
