The Rockdale JV gold team showed the future of Rockdale football is bright with a 48-0 domination of the La Grange JV Fish.
The offensive fireworks started early with quarterback Blaydn Barcak hitting Wyatt Wyndam on a 35-yard pass for a touchdown. Barcak continued to dominate with a 17-yard run to make the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The onslaught continued in the second quarter with a 17-yard run by Gerren Morero for a touchdown. Afterwards Barcak would earn his third touchdown of the day throwing a pass to Cruz San Miguel to end the half 34-0.
The Tigers slowed things down in the second half as the game had been decided already. Dominique Clark scored on a three-yard touchdown run for their only score in the third quarter. To add insult to injury, Wyndam capped off the game with a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Offensive standouts included Kemar Spencer, Wyndam, Morero, Barcak and San Miguel. Defensive standouts included Riley Spears, San Miguel, Wyndam, Sterling Piazak, and Dominique Clark.
“I was extremely proud of how our kids played,” Coach Ethan Brinkley said. “I thought the effort was outstanding all night long. A lot of kids stepped up and made plays.”
JV BLUE—For the Rockdale JV Blue, the team fought hard but came up short against the La Grange JV 30-16. The Leopards got on the board first with a touchdown run in the first quarter. The Leopard’s special teams and defense made their presence felt in the second quarter with a punt return touchdown and interception return for a touchdown.
The Tigers scored in the third quarter as Chris Huff ran three yards for a touchdown. Lane Bell caught a pass from quarterback Ivan Bonner for the two-point conversion. As La Grange scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter, Bonner responded with a seven-yard touchdown run. Aiden Hirt caught a pass from Bonner for the twopoint conversion.
Offensive standouts included: Bonner, Tristan Jackson, Huff, Hirt, Lane Rickman and Jose Aboytes. Defensive standouts included: Huff, Alex Silva, Rickman, Landen Punders and Luke Daflter.
Both teams will travel to Taylor Thursday to face the Ducks JV teams.
