On Thursday, The RHS JV Blue and JV Gold teams joined forces to face off against the Academy JV Bumblebees. The Tigers destroyed the Bees 36-7.
Both defenses played great in the first quarter with neither team scoring any points.
The scoring would begin in the second quarter with Rockdale running back Gerren Marrero scoring a touchdown on a five-yard run. The Tigers would score the two-point conversion on a three-yard run by quarterback Blaydn Barcak. The Tigers led 8-0 at the half.
In the third quarter, Barcak dialed-up a 50-yard pass to Marrero for a touchdown. Later in the quarter, Barcak would show off his arm talent again by connecting with Wyatt Windham on a 30-yard touchdown pass. The Tigers earned the two-point conversion on both touchdowns making the score 24-0 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Tiger running game began to take over. Chris Huff scortched the Academy defense with a 45-yard touchdown run. Dominique Clark would ice the game for the Tigers with a 30-yard touchdown. The Bees scored late in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.
Offensive standouts included Kemar Spencer, Marrero, Windham, Spears, Isaiah Saults and Landon Pounders. Defensive standouts included Clark, Alex Ebba, Spears, Sauls, Alec Silva, Barcak and Windham.
The Tigers are now 3-3-2 on the season and 3-1 in district play. They will prepare to face the Troy JV Trojans on Thursday at home.
