With the release of district picks last week, a total of 28 Thorndale High School athletes earned honors and junior Kelsey Kovar was named District 27-2A’s most valuable player.

Kovar ended her 2021 campaign with a batting average of .698 and eight home runs. She also struck out only five times in 116 plate appearances.

Other big winners for the Lady Dogs were sophomore Raeghan Carlson, who won Defensive MVP. Emilee Baker, Bailee Baker, Reagyn Trahan and Natalie Garcia were named to the first team and Kassidy Eubanks and Dori Ginn were picked for the second team.

Freshmen Emily Reeves and sophomore Landri Martinka were named as honorable mentions.

BULLDOGS—Juniors Logan Davis and Bryson Beran won Offensive and Defensive MVP and freshman Kaden Kovar was named Newcomer of the Year for the district.

Carter Brymer was named to the first team and Mason Lindig and Coy Stutts earned second team honors. Hunter Clark was named as an honorable mention.

ACADEMIC—For the Lady Dogs, Kovar, Carlson, Emilee Baker, Bailee Baker, Trahan, Garcia, Ginn, Reeves, Martinka, Morgan Meadors, Hailey Meadors, Haleigh Moehling, Emily Owen, Mackenzie Becker, Natalie Newton and Carlee Clark earned Academic All-District honors.

For the Bulldogs, Beran, Clark, Stutts, Davis, Brymer, Kovar, Lindig, Cain Brymer, Ethan Williamson, Hunter Thigpen, Layton Mogford, Cayden Nicholson and Riggs Schneider ended the season honored for their academic standing.
