The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs shutout the Bartlett Lassies and lost to the Tigerettes for the second time this season giving them the second place spot in District 25-2A, behind an undefeated Thrall team.
Thorndale beat Bartlett at home Saturday, 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by threat at the net Landri Leschber W DNP with 14 kills, and 8 aces. Landry Laywell was also instrumental in the sweep with 17 assists. Sixteen of Thorndale’s 75 total points in the match were aced serves.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Bulldogs lost for the second time to Thrall 26-24,24-26,20-25,16-25.
The Lady Bulldogs went head-to-head with the Tigerettes, resulting in two tiebreakers in the first and second sets. The Tigerettes won the third to lead 2-1. Thrall took the fourth set to defeat the Lady Bulldogs for their second loss in district.
Thorndale was led by Leschber, Jordyn Smith, and Elise Biar at the net. Laywell was key to the netters success with 14 assists. Allison Albert also helped the Lady Bulldogs on defense with 11 digs.
The Lady Bulldogs played Tuesday after press time against Holland for the second time in district play. They play their next match on Saturday in Buckholts at 1 p.m.
