The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs began 2019 with a 60-21 win at home over Granger.
“We played really well, and did great on defense,” said Bradley Dickerson, Thorndale High School girl’s head basketball coach. “We also created a lot of turnovers that ended in points for us.”
Thorndale’s defensive prowess showed in the first half when the team held the Lady Lions to three points in the opening quarter and six in the second quarter.
Thorndale’s success continued in the second half with the Lady Bulldogs outscoring Granger 32 to 12 to win the game 60-21.
Elise Biar led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, and Kelsey Kovar scored a season high of 14. Savanna Taylor also helped the squad on offense with eight points.
“The break really helped us,” Dickerson said. “Because we were able to mix in more rest with practice and games.”
The Lady Bulldogs are 17-3 and undefeated in district 25-2A play with a 4-0 record.
Thorndale is ranked 15th in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) poll.
