The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs improved their overall record to 12-2 with a 47-14 non-district win over Austin-St. Andrew’s on Friday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Elise Biar with 19 points, and Maddie Smith with nine. Landry Laywell and Makayla Lafferty were also contributors with six points apiece.

Earlier in the week, Thorndale opened up district play with a 54-40 victory over Hearne. The Lady Bulldogs led 30-22 at the half, and broke away in the fourth quarter with a 17-10 run. Biar and Smith both scored 17 points, and Lay-well had six.

“It was good to start off district with a tough road game and getting the win,” said Bradley Dickerson, THS girl’s head basketball coach. “I’m also glad we’re on a Tuesday and Friday game schedule now because it gives an opportunity to have more practices to fix things.”

The Lady Bulldogs played district rival Thrall on Tuesday evening, and will play on the road against Holland 6:30 p.m., Friday in their final game before Christmas break.
