Elise Biar and Savanna Taylor made the all-tournament team, and helped the Lady Bulldogs basketball team finish third at the Tilden Tournament.

“It was an overnight trip,” said Bradley Dickerson, THS girl’s head basketball coach. “The girls had a great time with each other bonding. We played some good competition and some things we need to improve. There was also a lot of good stuff, and it was also nice to see teams we normally never play.”

In their first game, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Charlotte 53-15. Biar and Taylor were leading scorers with 17 and 9 points. In the second round, THS took down Freer 38-27. Taylor led the team with 10. Ashley Pesl and Jordyn Smith were also key players with six points apiece.

Thorndale lost its semi-finals matchup 35-32 to San Marcos Home School. Biar and Taylor led the team again with 16 and eight points. Smith also had six for the second time.

The Lady Bulldogs won the third place championship 48-43 over Three Rivers. Biar scored a tournament-high 20 points, and Taylor had 11. Pesl and Smith also had eight points each.

On Tuesday, Dec. 4, THS defeated class 3A Jarrell 50-39. Maddie Smith was the leading scorer with 13, and her sister Jordyn had 11.

Thorndale played their first district game in Hearne on Tuesday after press time, and play a non-district game at home on Friday against St. Andrew’s of Austin.

Tipoff is at 6:15 p.m.
