The Thorndale Lady Bulldogs went 5-2 in the Rockdale Tournament, losing only five sets in the seven matches they played at the Rockdale High School gym Aug. 23-25.
36-31 Thorndale’s first match was a close loss against 28 Georgetown -7 Gateway College 7- Prep 6 20-25, 25-23, 24-26. The Lady Bulldogs followed that defeat with a two-game winning streak over Merid- DNP ian 25-20, 25-18, and Austin-Travis 25-9, 25-14.
The Lady Bulldogs got their second loss to Killeen-Shoemaker, 13-25,23-25 but ended the weekend strong with three consecutive victories over the Somerville Lady Yeguas 25-22, 25-21, the Holland Lady Hornets 25-12, 25-15 and the Taylor Lady Ducks 25-22, 19-25, 25-17.
Thorndale also played Taylor earlier in the week on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at home and beat them 25-22, 25-21,25-18.
The Lady Bulldogs are finished with tournament play for the 2018 season, and have one more non-district match in Lexington against the Lady Eagles on Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m.
Thorndale starts district play on Tuesday, Sept. 4, in Granger against the Lady Lions at 7 p.m.
