The Lady Bulldogs got two shutouts and their second and third 25-2A district wins this week against the Holland Lady Hornets and the Bartlett Lassies.
In their most recent match on Saturday, Sept. 15, The Lady Bulldogs swept the Lady Hornets, 25-16, 25-19,25-12 in Holland.
In their shutout, the Lady Bulldogs were lead with strong net play by junior Landri Leschber with 17 kills, and junior Maddie Smith with fi ve. The Thorn-dale offense had a good game at the service line, with 10 aces on the night.
Senior Landry Laywell was very instrumental in the Lady Bulldog’s victory with 11 assists. Sophomore Ashley Pesl played a key role in the match as well with 10 digs. Earlier in the week, the Lady Bulldogs got their first sweep of the week against the Bartlett Lassies 25-14,25-20, 25-15.
Thorndale was led with all around play from Leschber with 8 kills, 5 blocks, 4 digs, 7 assists, and 2 aces, and Smith with 6 kills, 1 block, 8 digs, and 4 assists. Laywell was also a big part of the Lady Bulldog offense on Tuesday night with 10 assists.
Thorndale will have played their fourth district match of the season against Buckholts at home. Read the Reporter next week for game results.
The Lady Bulldogs play their next match against Milam County rival Milano on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
