Lady Bulldog basketball came to an end Friday afternoon when THS fell to an aggressive Shiner team 44-34 in Fayetteville.
Shiner, who THS coach Bradley Dickerson said was an athletic team that could get to the basket, led right away and went into half time up 24-13.
The Lady Bulldogs cut Shiner’s lead to four at the end of the third but were unable to erase the deficit in the fourth as the Lady Commanches took the game.
Sophomores Bailee Baker and Abby Dickerson led Thorndale with 12 and 10. Makayla Lafferty had five and Kyndal Robinson had three. Kelsey Kovar and Ashley Pesl each had two points.
Shiner was led by Emma Herman, who had 19 points.
THS finishes the 2020- 21 campaign with a record of 8-2 in District 27-2A, with their only losses being to top-ranked Hearne. This was the final game for seniors Pesl and Jacey Paulsen.
Despite the loss, Dickerson is optimistic about what the future holds for his team.
Thorndale has seasoned starters Lafferty and Kovar returning next season and they also have an array of sophomores such as Baker, Abby Dickerson and post Kinley Meadors, who saw a lot of playing time this season.
