Garcia, Baker, Kovar, Carlson picked by Texas Sportswriters Association

Earlier this week, four Thorndale High School softball players were named to the Texas Sportswriters Association’s All-State teams.

THS senior Emilee Baker was selected to the first team as an outfielder while junior second baseman Natalie Garcia was picked for the second team.

Lady Dog senior first baseman Kelsey Kovar and junior third baseman Raeghan Carlson were named honorable mentions.

DISTRICT–In addition to four Lady Dogs being picked for All-State teams, 19 THS softball players were also voted on to District 27-2A squads.

Carlson, a University of North Carolina commit, was named the Defensive Player of the Year while Thorndale freshman Karis Ginn was picked as Pitcher of the Year.

First team selections were Baker, Kovar and Garcia while Kassidy Eubanks and Bailee Baker made the District 27-2A second team. Landri Martinka and Reagyn Trahan were named as honorable mentions.

1Academic All-District selections were Emilee Baker, Bailee Baker, Kovar, Trahan, Garcia, Ginn, Carlson, Martinka, Mackenzie Becker, Morgan Meadors, Dori Ginn, Hailey Meadors, Emily Reeves, Madison Masek, Carlee Clark, Haleigh Moehling, Hadley Meadors and Allison Owen.

The Lady Dogs made it to the Class 2A Region IV finals this season, and were one series away from their second trip to the state tournament since 2019.
