NAVASOTA—The Milano varsity softball team continued to get the job done by taking down Latexo in three games last week, 5-2, 1-2 and 12-5.

After a couple of pitching duels in the first two games of the series, the Lady Eagle bats came alive in game three, jumping to a 5-2 lead after the first inning.

By the time the third inning was over Milano was on cruise control with a 9-2 lead.

Although eight different girls had hits in the game, a pair of sophomores lead the charge. Karley Hairston went 3-for-3 with a walk at the plate and teammate Rayelee Keen went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and knocked four of her teammates across the plate in the victory.

Hairston was also the primary pitcher in all three games going a total of 19-2/3 innings, allowing 12 hits and only five earned runs, while striking out 12.

THIS WEEK— The Lady Eagles will take on the very tough Weimar Wildcats beginning with game one at 7 p.m. Thursday in Brenham. Milano will be the home team for the first game.

Game two will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brenham.

If needed, game three will begin 30 minutes after game two ends.

Tickets are $5 and senior citizen and coach passes will be accepted.
