Milano and Thorndale volleyball players received top honors in the District 25-2A awards from coaches.
Milano freshman McKenna Robertson won the newcomer of the year award and Thorndale senior Landry Laywell took the top setter honor, while her teammate junior Maddie Smith shared the defensive MVP award with Thrall’s Claire Segmound.
First team all-district members from Milano were Sterling Robertson and Laynie Bastow and the Lady Bulldogs who made the team were Landri Leschber and Maddie Flores.
Lady Eagles junior Abbigail Miller and Thorndale’s Jordyn Smith made the all-district second team, and Allison Albert, Hannah Laurence and Elise Biar received honorable mention accolades for the Lady Bulldogs.
Five Lady Eagles were named to the Academic All District team. They were: Kaitlyn Telg, Miller, S. Robertson, Angela Zeig and Danni Shaw. Thorn-dale’s Albert, Biar, Rainey Buchanan, Flores, Laurence, Laywell, Leschber and Ashley Pesl were also part of the team.
Riley Krenek from Thrall won the district MVP award.
