On Thursday, The MHS Volleyball team saw their season come on an end.
After qualifying for the 2A Region 3 and 4 Playoffs in their last regular season game, the Lady Eagles were defeated by the Snook Lady Blue Jays in the Bi-District round in four sets 25-23, 20-25, 13-25 and 19-25.
“I was proud of the girls in the bi-district round,” MHS Head Coach and Athletic Director Wendy King said. “We came out with a lot of energy and won the first game. I believe we played as good as we have this season. As the game wore on, Snook picked up their service game and we struggled at times to get a first pass that would keep us in system.”
McKenna Robertson led the Lady Eagles with 12 kills and nine blocks. Peyton Robertson led the team in assist with 12, while Montgomery Popham led in digs with seven.
After the loss, Coach King praised her team’s effort and says she is looking forward to next season.
“Our goal all season was to become better players and better teammates,” King said. “We will continue to work on those things on into next season. We have a lot of youth on this team and there can be nothing but improvement going forward. I am proud of my team and look forward to next season.”
