BRENHAM—The Milano varsity softball team’s season came to an end last weekend at the regional semi-finals with two losses to perennial powerhouse, the Weimar Wildcats. Weimar is currently ranked No. 2 in the state in 2A.

The Lady Eagles did not go easily, losing 2-0 and 5-0 Thursday and Friday nights.

Milano was the only team facing Weimar in the playoffs that didn’t allow 24 runs or more in two games.

Milano enjoyed a very successful season, and the future looks bright as they were led by two underclasswomen. Junior Toni Meyer led the Lady Eagles in batting average, home runs, hits and RBI. Sophomore Karley Hairston was a beast from the mound with a 2.82 ERA and led the team in stolen bases as well.
