Thanks to a goal by Rockdale’s Marisa Hernandez, the Lady Tigers secured their second district victory with a score of 1-0 over Smithville on Wednesday evening at RHS.
This win also marks the first time the Lady Tiger soccer t e ams h a s ever won two district contests in a season since the program was formed in 2017. Rockdale also faced La Grange and Giddings this past week, but fell to both district front-runners. As of press time Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Tigers have a record of 2-3 and traveled to Manor New Tech later that evening. They hit the pitch next on Friday in Caldwell. Match time is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
TIGERS— Like the girls, the RHS boys’ soccer team also played three games this past week with losses to Giddings (5-2), La Grange (2-0) and Smithville (2-0). The Blue and-Gold also played in Manor on Tuesday and head to Burleson County on Friday to face Caldwell. All of the action starts at 5:15 p.m.
Without any seniors on their roster, the Tigers are 0-5 through their first five district matches.
