After a two-week hiatus, the RHS Lady Tigers resumed their workouts this past Monday. Coaches decided to postpone workouts due to an unidentified participant contracting COVID-19.

“Workouts went well.” Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Jacob Campsey said. “ The start of fall camp is right around the corner so any work they can put in now will help during the fall.”

The day began with strength and conditioning workouts for the girls. Some of their workouts included running sprints and performing various body weight exercises including push-ups and sit-ups.

The girls then formed into three groups and performed circuit workouts. One circuit consisted of doing box jump exercises, another doing agility drills, and the last one performing core workouts.

Coaches motivated the girls and challenged them to go beyond their limits.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UIL has enforced strict rules to protect athletes from infection. Campsey said they are taking these mandates seriously and performing every precaution they can.

“We’re still doing everything we can to take safety precautions,” Campsey said. “We still check everyone’s temperature when they come inside of the gate and the girls are more than six feet apart. The girls do not go into the weight room at all.”

Hand sanitizer was placed at every entrance and equipment was sani-tized after it was used.

The boys are continuing to give great effort, according to Campsey.

“The kids that are showing up are getting in better shape by the week,” Campsey said.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic some schools have postponed workouts (see story on this page). Milano did not schedule workouts for the July 4 holiday. “We normally take the

“We normally take the fourth of July week off,” said Milano Head Football Coach Chad Lagrone. “The break is good to prevent COVID too, but we haven’t had anyone test positive. (Athletic Director Wendy) King has the final say but I expect us to be back at it next week.”
