The Lady Tigers returned to their winning ways as they made impressive showings in both of their matchups this past week.
The Lady Tigers demolished the Moody Lady Bearcats at home in three sets. In the first, the Lady Tigers were able to come from behind late in the set to win 25-21. The Lady Tigers dominated the next two sets 25-13 and 25-5. Haven Jimenez led the Tigers with 16 kills. Yolianna Castillo led the team in assists with 15 while Averie Hobbs and Emma Whitsel led the team in digs with seven.
On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers faced off against the rival Cameron Lady Yoemen. Things looked bleak at first as the lady Tigers dropped the first two sets 22-25 and 23-25. However, the Lady Tigers showed resilience and came back to win the last three sets 25-22, 31-29 and 16-14 to earn the victory. Stats were not available at The Reporter deadline Wednesday morning.
“We did a great job of keeping the energy and intensity against Moody,” Head Coach Kelsey Hudson said. “We are so proud of the of heart and fight the Lady Tigers showed against Cameron.”
With the two wins the lady Tigers move to 7-3 on the season. The Lady Tigers look to continue their win streak as they prepare to begin district play against the Lexington Lady Eagles on Friday.
