The shutout comes three days after a tiebreaker win over Franklin 21-25, 25-22, 18-25, 21-24, 15-13.

“I was really proud of our fight against Franklin,” said Kelsey Hudson, Rock-dale volleyball coach. “We showed a lot of resilience.

“But this past Friday, I just didn’t see that. We didn’t play as well and our fight wasn’t there.

THIS WEEK–The Lady Tigers played a winless McGregor team Tuesday on the road after press time.

The McGregor match is the beginning of a tough, four-game road stretch where they travel to Little River-Academy on Friday, Troy on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and Rogers on Friday, Oct. 4.

The Lady Bees are 1-2 like Rockdale, but the 2-1 Lady Trojans are coming off a 2018 state tournament appearance and are the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s fifth-ranked team in Class 3A. Although they are not ranked now, Rogers has spent most of the season as one of TGCA’s top 25 teams in Class 3A and is undefeated in district play so far with wins over McGregor, Franklin and Academy.

“We definitely need to stay positive,” Hudson said. “We’re in a tough district and we have to be ready every single night.”
