The Lady Tigers had a quick turnaround as they faced the Granger Lady Lions at home on Saturday. The Lady Tigers came out on fire in the first two sets winning 25-19 and 25-21. In the third set, Granger got off to a big lead scoring six unanswered points. The Lady Tigers rallied back to make things interesting late in the contest and tied the set at 23-23. However, the Lady Lions would prevail winning the set 23-25 to keep the match alive. RHS couldn’t overcome Granger’s resilience as the Lady Lions won the last two sets 13-25 and 10-15 to complete their comeback.
Julie Bartsch led the Lady Tigers with 14 kills while Yolianna Castillo led the team in assists with 24.
On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers earned a win against the Thorndale Lady Bulldogs at home. RHS dominated the first set 25-16. After dropping the second set 16-25, the Lady Tigers did a great job of bouncing back in the next two sets with a score of 26-24 and 25-20 to close the match.
Julie Bartsch led the Lady Tigers with 17 kills while Yolianna Castillo led the team in assists with 24.
“I am very proud of the girls’ work ethic,” Hudson said. “We had a great match against Taylor. The girls fought hard and kept their composure against a good Taylor team. We struggled on Saturday to dig ourselves out of the hole. It was a good lesson for us. The girls showed great leadership and fight against Thorndale.”
The young ladies look to continue their win streak as they prepare to face the Gateway Lady Gators on Friday at Gateway.
