Following the conclusion of their 2022 season, nine Rockdale High School volleyball players racked up District 19-3A awards.
Lady Tiger senior Julie Bartsch was a first team all-district selection after recording 493 kills and 75 blocks at the net. Bartsch ends her career at the net for RHS with exactly 1,500 kills and 253 blocks. Classmate Yolianna Castillo lo was picked for the second team, with 829 assists and 403 digs this past fall. In four seasons with the Blue-and-Gold, she had 3,053 assists and 1,187 digs.
Other award winners include Georgia Woodard, who was named 19-3A Co-Newcomer of the Year. Saige Robertson, Alyzza Varela and Halle Jimenez were each selected as honorable mentions. Hannah McK ie, Molly Moody and Elizabeth Perry, along with Bartsch, Castillo, Jimenez, Robertson and Varela all received academic all-district honors. Team trainers Makaila Jackson and
Jimena Rodriguez were also academic all-district selections.
The Lady Tigers finished this season w ith a d istrict r ecord o f 6 -8 a nd returned to the post-season for the third consecutive year.
