Rockdale fell in three sets to Milam County neighbor Thorndale in what was a close 26-24, 25-21, 25-11 game.
“ I was happy with how we fought in the first two games,” said Kelsey Hudson, RHS head volleyball coach. “ But I felt like we could’ve played a lot better in the third.”
The opening set at THS gymnasium came down to the final point. The Lady Bulldogs led 21-19 but RHS out hit THS in the next six points to tie the set at 23 and Rockdale took the lead 24-23 on the following point.
On the next play, Thorn-dale tied the game again at 24 and they took a 25-24 lead with a Madi Smith spike. Landri Leschber won the game for the Lady ‘Dawgs with a cross-court kill.
In the second set, the girls in blue took an early 7-3 lead before THS tied the game at eight. Rockdale went ahead 10-8 with two winning points but Thorn-dale went back ahead leading 24-18. The Lady Tigers held on for a couple more points but the Lady Bulldogs took the set 25-21 to lead 2-0.
Thorndale ran away with the third set early. They led RHS 17-6 before winning the set 25-11.
Emily Depine led Rock-dale with five kills, Julie Bartsch and Andrea Salazar had four each, Anna Harmon and Haven Jimenez both had three and Payton Miller had one. Yoli Castillo led the team in assists with 16 and Andrea Salazar had one. Miller and Depine led the team in digs with 11 and 10 respectively and Castillo and Salazar both had five. Averie Hobbs and Emma Whitsel both had four, Jimenez had three, Harmon had two and Bartsch had one.
For Thorndale, Kyndal Robinson led the team with nine kills, Smith and Leschber had seven, Jayci Martinka had six, Tristyn Buchanan had three and Shannon Hadd ended the night with one. Leschber and Robinson both led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 assists. Smith also had tzo and Kadd finished the game with one.
Allison Albert led Thorn-dale with eight digs, Ashley Pesl had six, Smith had four, Martinka had three, Leschber and Landri Martinka each had two and Robinson had one.
THIS W EEK— Rock-dale played in their final non-district contest on Tuesday against Moody. RHS opens up District 19-3A play on Friday afternoon against Lexington.
The Lady Eagles are 13-13 and are coming off a zin over Uose ud-Oott this past Friday. Like Rockdale, the|Îve also pla|ed Caldzell and Thorndale in their past three games.
LHS lost in three sets to the top-ranked Lady Hornets at home 29-27, 25-22, 25-20 on Wuesda| Vept. 3, and lost 3-1 to the Lady Bulldogs in Milam County 22-25 4:-25 25-40 26-25 on Irida|/ Au . 60.

THO RNDA LE— After defeating Rockdale this past Friday, the Lady Bulldogs began play in District 25-2A on Tuesday against Granger, Texa s G irls C oaches A ssociation’s 12th-ranked team in Class 2A. On Saturday, the Oad Eulldojs travel to Thrall for the Battle of 79.
The Lady Tigerettes are TG C A ’s ninth-ranked team in Class 2A. Thorndale beat their Williamson County rival 25-22 24-25 25-4 on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Little Uiver-Academ| Wournament.

The match starts at 3p.m., following the end of the munior varsit| match.
MILA NO — The Milano Oad Hajles zon their final match of their non-district schedule beating Moody at home 25-42/ 25-20/ 25-22.
McKenna Robertson led the ad ajles ith 20 ills and Abby Miller had nine. Danni Shaw led the team zith 20 assists. Eethanie Compton had nine assists, Aee Olson had seven haz had six and Kaitlyn Telg had four.
THIS W EEK— MHS played their first district contest Tuesday in Holland after press time.
The Lady Eagles play next on Saturday afternoon against Buckholts. Milano has played the Lady Badgers twice in the pre-season, beating them 25-13, 25-9 on Saturday, Aug. 31, and 25-14, 25-9 on Thursday, Aug. 22.
