The Lady Tigers lost in the tiebreaker set to the Rogers Lady Eagles 25-23,17-25, 25-23,24-26, 9-15 Friday in Rogers.

“We had moments of great stuff,” said Jennifer Keen, RHS head volleyball coach. “But then too many errors.’’

Rockdale was led by Kaylee Criswell and Ryanne Young at the net with 17 and 10 kills. Reese Weise was a leader on the floor with 40 assists. The Lady Tigers were also led by Payton Miller, Emily Depine, and Kylie Eubanks. All three players had more than 10 digs in the five-game set.

The Lady Tigers were also without dominant net player Lyndsey Kolar, due to a back injury.

“I’m really pleased with how Payton (Miller) and Reyna (Gonzalez) have stepped up for us,” Keen said. “With Lyndsey (Kolar) coming back, hopefully turn things around for this second set of district games.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers fell to Troy 20-25, 20-25, 16-25.

The Lady Tigers were led by Criswell and Kolar, who both had 14 and 8 kills respectively. Weise had 25 assists, and Miller had 23 digs.

The Lady Tigers played Lexington on Tuesday. See next week’s issue for results of the match.

Rockdale opens the second round of district in Franklin against the Lady Lions 4 p.m.this Friday.

Rock-dale defeated Franklin 26-24, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20 in their first matchup early this season. The Lady Tigers are 3-4 in district 19-3A.

The Lady Tigers JV2 defeated Rogers 25-22,13-25,25-20 on Friday, Sept.

“They dominated their serve,” Keen said. “These girls really fought for this match.”

Earlier in the week, they lost to Troy 17-25, 20-25.

The Lady Tigers JV1 also defeated Rogers, beating the Lady Eagles 25-23, 25-21.

Averie Hobbs and Mariana Casarez impressed coaches with great play.

“Averie is continuing to impress us overall,” Keen said. “Mariana as well, with her great awareness of everything going on around her.”

JV1 lost earlier in the week to Troy 22-25,26-24,22-25. Both teams play their next game on Friday, Oct. 5 following the varsity’s match in Franklin against the Lady Lions.

Rockdale Junior High School - On Monday, Oct. 1, the RJH volleyball teams took on Troy at home.

“We hit the floor running with hustle and good serving,” Fritsche said “Having an upbeat tempo gave us an opportunity to push points.”

Rockdale 7A lost 15-25, 18-25 to Troy

“Ciara Miles served well for us,” Fritsche said. “But their serving was too good for us stop them.”

Rockdale 7B lost 25-13, 17-25, 3-15

“The Lady Tigers started off strong in the first with good serving,” Fritsche said. “In the other sets, we struggled with passing.”

The seventh and eighth grade “A” teams will host a tournament at the high school gym on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Times for games have yet to be announced.

District play for junior high squads resumes on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Cameron with seventh grade games starting at 5 p.m. and eighth grade games beginning after seventh grade finishes.
