Rockdale’s volleyball team played their final volleyball game of the season Tuesday evening falling to Rogers 25-21, 27-29,17-25, 19-25.

The Lady Tigers ended their season just out of the playoff picture in fifth place with a record of 6-8 in District 19-3A.

Julie Bartsch led RHS with 10 kills and Averie Hobbs had nine. Yolianna Castillo was the assist leader with 31. The blue-and-gold also had four girls with more than 10 digs including Payton Miller(31), Castillo(18), Emily Depine(14) and Emma Whitsel(12).

This was the final game for seniors Miller, Depine and Andrea Salazar.

FRIDAY–Four days earlier, the Lady Tigers overcame losing a first set to win three straight beating Troy 18-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.

Harmon led the Lady Tigers with a season high of 18 kills and Jimenez had 10. Yolianna Castillo also had 44 assists. Payton Miller had 28 digs and Emma Whitsel had 15.

According to RHS head coach Kelsey Hudson, the Lady Tigers had arguably the toughest district in all of Class 3A.

MILANO–The Lady Eagles won their final district game with a 3-0 shutout on the road in Bartlett 25-10, 25-10, 25-7.

McKenna Robertson led the team with 19 kills and three blocks and Abby Miller was also a top contributor from the net and the service line with 10 kills and two aces.

Danni Shaw led MHS in assists with 19 and Abby Olson, Angela Zeig and Kaitlyn Telg each had two digs. Bethanie Compton had four assists and two aces.

Milano moves on to the playoffs now to face Burton, the top team from District 26-2A who is coming off a regional finals appearance where they lost to Thorn-dale in a five-set match that the Lady Bulldogs won in a 16-14 tiebreaker.

As of press time, the time and location of the match has yet to be finalized. Details will be posted on the Milano ISD website and all school affiliated social media when finalized.

THORNDALE–The Lady Bulldogs also got a victory in their final district game of the season on Friday beating the Mumford Lady Mustangs 25-7, 25-11, 25-11 at the THS Gymnasium.

Landri Leschber was the team leader in kills with 12 and Madi Smith was right there with her at the net with 11. Freshman Kyndal Robinson led the Lady Bulldogs in assists with 16. Ashley Pesl played a significant role on defense with 10 digs.

Due to District 26-2A being primarily made up of teams that are actually classified as 1A with only Burton, Snook and Somerville as the only actual Class 2A schools. Thorn-dale has a bye in the first round and is not scheduled to play until the area finals between Nov.7-9.

As of press time, Thorn-dale has not scheduled a practice game.
