Rockdale’s Lady Tiger volleyball team started off hot at their own tournament, beating Holland, Round Rock Meridian and Florence, who they bounced back to beat in two straight sets after falling in the first set to coach Morgan Laughlin’s team.

Things were slightly different on Saturday for the Lady Tigers, when they fell to Class 4A Navasota 25-20, 25-11 in the morning and lost their final two games with Killeen Shoemaker and Georgetown Gateway College Prep later in the day. Both schools are higher classifications than RHS.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers lost to Thorndale 3-2 on Tuesday night at the RHS Gymnasium.

THIS WEEK— This Tuesday evening after press time, Rockdale hit the road for Bremond to face off with another team called the Lady Tigers. Head coach Melanie Seltzer and her team return to action early Friday evening, when the Blue-and-Gold host Class 4A Taylor.

According to MaxPreps, the Lady Ducks are 9-7 overall. They played in the Rockdale tournament this past weekend and also beat Round Rock Meridian but lost to Navasota just like RHS. The Lady Ducks also lost to Thorndale 3-2 this week, but on Friday. Emma Whitsel, who started for the Lady Tigers in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons, transferred to Taylor last spring and plays for the Lady Ducks. First serve between the two schools is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The first and the second junior varsity teams’ will play directly after the varsity match at 6 p.m.

JV1 will be in the main gym while JV2 is scheduled to play in the old gym.
