Despite their 6-5 loss to district rival Cameron on Monday night, the Lady Tigers are still riding high from their Jarrell Tournament win last weekend.
Last Monday’s District 19-3A opener, the Rockdale Lady Tigers lost to C.H. Yoe.
Brande Breithaupt took the loss for the Lady Tigers. She lasted six and a third innings, allowing 15 hits and six runs while striking out two.
Rockdale racked up 12 hits. Jena Locklin and Payton Miller all managed multiple hits for the Lady Tigers. Locklin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits and made seven plays in the field.
“They just outplayed us at the end,” Coach Meghann Infantino said. “We played a good defensive game, but Cameron just had more energy than we did and it showed.”
Rockdale plays again in the Taylor Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
“The goal is to make it to the playoffs,” said Coach Meghann Infantino. “I feel like we’re playing with a lot of fight and, if we keep pushing at rate we are right now, I know we’ll get there.”

The Lady Tigers came out strong scoring 12 runs in four innings. Jarrell was able to erase the seven-run deficit with three-run home run, multiple hits and three unearned runs to tie the game. Rockdale fought back in the sixth inning by scoring two runs and took care of business on defense for the victory.
Rockdale had 17 hits to Jarrell’s 11. Senior Emily Depine sparked the offense batting .800 with four hits in five at-bats. Jena Locklin, Averie Hobbs and Andrea Salazar all had multiple hits.
The Lady Tigers pulverized Manor New Tech 16-1.
They overpowered the Lady Titans from the start, scoring 16 runs in the first three innings. The umpire called the game due to the mercy rule.
Mariana Casarez and Payton Miller led the Lady Tigers in scoring with three runs, while Andrea Salazar led the team in hits with three.
