As the 2018 regular season winds down, the Rockdale Lady Tigers are maintaining their status as a playoff team.
With four games left on the schedule, Rockdale (13-10 overall, 5-4 in district) currently has a grip on the fi nal playoff spot in fourth place, one game ahead of Jarrell, which they just defeated.
No. 18 Rogers (8-1) holds a slim one game lead over Academy (7-1) and Lexington (7-1).
The Lady Tigers host Hearne Friday, then travel to Franklin on Tuesday.
Friday, the Lady Tigers edged Jarrell 4-3 in a crucial victory.
Cailey Knighton (8-1) scattered four hits and struck out seven batters to keep Jarrell at bay with no extra base hits.
At the plate, Karley Leopold racked up a pair of hits including an RBI double. Leopold leads Rockdale with 18 runs batted in on the season.
Emily Depine knocked in a pair of runs with her team-high eighth double of the year and Knighton produced the Lady Tigers’ fourth run.
Along with her prowess on the mound, Knighton tops the Lady Tigers in batting at .408.
The Lady Tigers’ contest with Academy Tuesday night was moved to Wednesday at the Softball Complex.
