Rockdale’s Lady Tiger powerlifting team won the Brazos Invitational last Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers had four first place finishers including Jena Locklin, Mercades Ramirez, Jesenia Navarro and Mackenzie Musto, who was named Girl Lifter of the Meet.

Lisbett Boussart, Georgina Rodriguez and Allie Rubio placed second and Alyssa Grady finished third in their respective divisions.

Peyton Smith and Chloe Buegeler also competed with fifth place finishes.

RHS assistant coach John Brown said in his eight years involved with the program, the girls team had never won a meet before.

For the Tigers, Kevin Liu, Gavin Aguilar and Bryce Flowers finished in first while Miles Grear and Daniel Gardin-er placed second.

Noah Pastrano and Codey Ball placed third and fourth.

Both RHS powerlifting teams have the week off but lift in their final regular season meet this Wednesday at Lake Belton High School.

According to head coach Ryan Montalvo, Rockdale hasn’t had anymore automatic regional qualifiers since Navarro and Musto hit their marks in January, but that seven Lady Tigers and two Tigers are amongst the top 12 lifters in their weight class in the region, which get to advance to regionals.
