On Friday evening, the Lady Tigers started off slow in their match with Class 4A Taylor, losing 20-25 in the opening set.
Falling behind early didn’t deter RHS, as they battled to win three straight sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-10) and taking the victhe tory over the Class 4A Lady Ducks.
Earlier in the week, Rockdale fell to Bremond, 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 7-25, 9-15), the 24th-ranked team in Class 2A.
THIS WEEK— Rockdale hit the road for Jewett on Tuesday after press time to face Leon High School, results from the match between the two schools will be in the next week’s edition of The Rockdale Reporter.
On Friday, the Lady Tigers open up district play at the Rockdale High School Gymnasium to face rival Cameron.
The Lady Yoe are 15-12 this season and are coming off a 3 -0 v ictory o ver C lifton on Tuesday evening.
The two schools face off at 4:30 p.m. Both junior varsity teams play following the varsity match with JV1 playing in the main gym and JV2 facing the Lady Yoe in the old gymnasium.
R ANKING— As of Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Tigers are Class 3A’s 25th-ranked team in the latest Texas Girls Coaches’ Association’s poll. According to Maxpreps, RHS has a record of 17-9 through their first 26 matches.
ERROR— Last week, The Reporter wrote that the Lady Tigers lost all three games on Aug. 27 at the Rockdale tournament, including a morning match with Class 4A Navasota.
The Blue-and-Gold actually beat the Lady Rattlers and ultimately placed fourth in the tournament, going 4-2 overall, not 3-3.
