Lady Tigers started the Taylor tournament with a bang last Thursday beating Gateway Christian 6-3, then losing to host Taylor 13-1. They ended the tournament on Saturday with a 4-1 record.
The team started its District 19-3A schedule Tuesday at home with a 12-5 loss against Lexington and hit the road to have played McGregor on Wednesday.
Tournament last Thursday, the Lady Tigers got things started in the first inning against Gateway when Ryleigh Eanes drove in two on a double. The team racked up 11 hits in the game. Jena Locklin and Eanes managed multiple hits. Locklin went 3-for-4 at the plate and lead the team in runs with two.
Pitcher Haven Jimenez was credited with the victory for Rockdale. She went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out three and walking zero.
“My team did a really of good job adjusting to a different pitcher and making it work,” Coach Megan Infantino said. “We worked really hard to outscore them to make sure Haven didn’t have to do it alone.
“Heart and effort aren’t scored the teams’ only run.
Brande Breithaupt took the loss for the Lady Tigers. She went four and a third innings, allowing 13 runs on nine hits.
“We worked much harder and didn’t given up which is all I asked of them,” Infantino said.
After Thursday’s loss, the Lady Tigers never looked back. They beat Granger 12-0 and Lanier 14-2 on Friday. On Saturday they defeated Shoemaker 4-0.
