After falling to Caldwell in a tie-breaker last Tuesday, the Rockdale High School volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 win on the road in Florence Friday night, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.

“I feel like we did a much better job of limiting our errors and playing consistently on Friday,” RHS head coach Kelsey Hudson said. “That is one area that we are focused on is making teams earn every single point. And it’s always a big win when you win on the road in district.”

Rockdale’s Junior Varsity “A” team also swept the Lady Buffs, winning 25-7, 25-12.2.

The JV “B” team didn’t play on Friday evening.

STATS—Individual stats from the Florence game were not available as of press time, but stats from last Tuesday’s game in Caldwell were:

Julie Bartsch: 1 ace, 27 kills, 4 blocks; Halle Jimenez: 1 ace, 10 digs, 4 kills; Haven Jimenez: 6 digs, 13 kills; Yolianna Castillo: 3 digs, 26 sets, 1 block; Emma Whitsel: 2 serves, 22 digs, 1 set, 1 kill; Brande Breithaupt: 9 sets, 1 kill, 1 block; Saige Robertson: 4 digs, 2 kills, 7 blocks.

THIS WEEK—After press time Tuesday evening, the Lady Tigers faced non-district opponent Lago Vista, an evenly matched team that like Rockdale, beat Taylor in three sets and also lost in three straight to Thrall.

The game is likely a build-up to Friday night’s matchup with perennial power Rogers.

Although the Lady Eagles lost their first two district games with a five-set match in Cameron and were swept by previously top-ranked Lexington last Tuesday, they beat Caldwell in three sets this past Friday.

Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., in the RHS Gymnasium. Junior Varsity “A” and “B” games will start following the end of the varsity contest with the “A” game in the main gym and the “B” game in the old gym.
