The Lady Tigers dropped to fifth place in District 19-3A play, after a win and loss last week. They have three more district games after Friday. The top four teams advance to the playoffs.

On Friday, Rockdale beat the Franklin Lady Lions for the second time 25-14, 25-22, 25-11.

“(Lyndsey) Kolar was a huge presence for us at the net,” said Jennifer Keen, Rockdale High School head volleyball coach. “It is really good to have her back, and in good shape.”

Kolar, who returned to the lineup was treated for a back injury she’s dealt with all season, had four solo blocks at the net. Kolar and Kaylee Criswell had 8 and 10 kills, respectively.

Reese Weise was key in Rockdale’s victory, according to Keen. Weise had 16 assists and 10 digs. Payton Miller, Kylie Eubanks and Reyna Gonzalez were also factors in the Lady Tiger win with 16 and 7 digs apiece for the latter two. The Lady Tiger lost at home to the Lexington Lady Eagles, 22-25,21-25,22-25. Criswell had 10 kills and Kolar contributed seven in the close match, Keen said. Weise got a lot of touches with 19 assists and 10 digs. Emily Depine and Gonzalez played a strong game defensively with 14 and 10 digs. The Lady Tigers played the Cameron Lady Yoe this Tuesday after the release of this week’s issue of the Rock-dale Reporter. Their next game is in McGregor against the Lady Bulldogs on Friday with the varsity starting at 4:30.

Junior varsity results Franklin 2, JV1 1 19-25, 25-17, 15-25 “We put up a good fight,” Keen said. “However, when we got to that third game, our passing just wasn’t where it needed to be.”

Franklin 2, JV2 0 20-25, 18-25 “We’ve improved tremendously from the first time they played Franklin.” Keen said. “Our offense and defense both look great, and that is what we were hoping for.” Results for the junior varsity’s games on Tuesday, Oct. 2 against Lexington weren’t received before press time.
