A really good Lady Tiger volleyball team faced a tough challenge last week when the Granger Lions came to town.

Former Tiger and Head Volleyball Coach Morgan Laughlin’s team played with a lot of determination but came up short losing three out of the five sets—28-30, 25-21, 25-21, 23-25 and 12-15.

Lady Tiger Ally Lay was out with an injury but the team stepped up and had quality play from Hannah McKee, Georgia Woodard and junior varsity player Macy McDaniel who was called up late to play on the varsity squad.

Laylee Lankford recorded nine aces on Tuesday night and Halle Jimenez had her normal outstanding game.

“This team is like family,” Coach Laughlin said. “They have great chemistry and they are playing with confidence. Losing was hard but we are ready for this weekend’s tournament. We need to improve on communicating, work on tip coverage but we are excited.”

JV— The JV 1 team won against Granger, 25-13, 21-25, 25-7, and JV 2 won 25-17, 25-20.

Leon-Jewett tourney

An injury plagued Lady Tiger volleyball team finished in fourth place in the silver bracket at the Leon-Jewett Tournament this past weekend.

“We struggled, but had good moments with our athletes playing in positions that they had not played before,” Coach Morgan Laughlin said.

The Lady Tigers are currently 8-9.
