The Rockdale Lady Tigers opened up their season at home against the Taylor Ducks and lost three sets to one. The final scores were 20-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 23-25.
Rockdale came out strong and looked especially sharp but Taylor proved to be too much.
Former Tiger and current head volleyball coach Morgan Laughlin said, “Even though it was a loss, I’m super pleased with how our girls competed.”
“We have some little things to work on and plan to spend some time on serving—receiving rotations and timing on our blocks,” she added. “I see these girls being successful this season.”
Navasota Tournament The Lady Tigers traveled to Navasota late in the week to compete in the Navasota Tournament.
They won their initial pool play with wins over Shepherd and Onalaska.
On Saturday they lost to 4A schools Navasota and Madisonville. Rockdale finished the tournament in fourth place.

Coming up
The Lady Tigers will host a volleyball tournament on Thursday and Saturday. Times are to be announced.
On Friday, the Lady Tigers will travel to Holland. Freshmen play at 5 p.m., JV at 6 and varsity plays at 7.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27,the Lady Tigers will host neighboring Thorndale. Freshmen play at 5 p.m., JV at 6 and varsity at 7.
