LEON— The Lady Tigers ended pre-district play on Tuesday against the No. 1-ranked 2A Leon Cougars out of Jewett.

Former Tiger and Head Volleyball Coach Morgan Laughlin was pleased with her team’s effort, “Leon is a great team. We had some good moments, some of the best rallies of this season. Molly Moody led with five blocks.”

The Lady Tigers lost in three sets against Leon.

CAMERON— The L ady Tigers opened district play Friday night across the river in Cameron. Despite a strong effort, the Lady Tigers fell to district rival Cameron with a final Cameron 3, Rockdale 1.

Coach Laughlin commented on her team, “I’m really proud of the girls, they really played hard. Senior Jamy Laywell did a great job of filling in the middle, a position she’s never played before.”

Molly Moody went down with an injury in the second set. Coach Laughlin is concerned, “This really changed our game tonight. We don’t know when she is coming back and that’s going to give us a challenge. At practice next week we will be looking at some new rotations and look at our athletes in other roles in her absence.” The Lady Tigers are 0-1 in district and play on Tuesday at home against Academy. Varsity plays at 6 p.m., JV1 and JV2 at 5 p.m.

JV— Both of the Lady Tigers JV teams were winless against Leon.

JV1 beat Cameron, 2-0, while JV2 beat Cameron 2-1.
