The Lady Tiger varsity volleyball team split wins and losses last week with Cameron and Academy. The Tigers came out on top at home against Cameron and lost on the road against Academy.
Early in the week the Lady Tigers clearly came out to win and beat rival Cameron 3-0 in very competitive games. This win boosted the team’s confidence but not enough to beat Academy late in the week.
Former Tiger and current head volleyball coach Morgan Laughlin said, “These girls played well against Academy and we were in every set. This team is improving, now we just have to keep pushing from the start to the finish.”
TOP PLAYERS— Standout players from this week’s action were senior Halle Jimenez who had 17 kills, 14 digs and 2 aces against Academy and recently-called-up JV player Trinity Hurd continues to impress. It was a morale boost for the Lady Tigers to have Junior Molly Moody back on the court after being out with an injury.
UP NEXT— The varsity volleyball team is 15-23 for the season and 1-8 in district play. This week the Lady Tigers will play Lexington at home and McGregor on the road. Tuesday was senior night.
JV— JV 1 lost to Cameron 0-2. They came up short against Academy 0-2 as well.
