The last full week of this year’s volleyball season was disappointing as the Lady Tigers lost to both Troy at their last home match Friday night and then earlier in the week they lost to Lorena.
The final against Troy was Troy 3, Rockdale 0 and the final against Lorena was the same.
The JV lost against Troy 2-0 and they lost 2-0 against Lorena as well.
The Lady Tigers will play their last game for the year this week on the road against Rogers. There will be no post-season play for this team that is 1-12 in district and 15-23 for the season.
Former Lady Tiger and current Head Volleyball Coach Morgan Laughlin is upbeat and thankful, “The season did not unfold as we had hoped but it was still a season with a lot of growth especially since we do have a young team.”
“Despite the challenges, injuries and the adversity the girls faced, they showed a lot of resilience,” she continued. “I think this season gave these kids an opportunity to learn, adapt and build a stronger foundation for the seasons to come.”
It has been a frustrating year and the Lady Tigers’ overall record speaks of a more balanced season. This team was fun to watch and we are grateful for how hard these ladies worked and the effort they gave for Tiger Nation.
We will miss our senior spikers but we do look forward to what Coach Laughlin and her staff bring to the court and to see how this young team shapes up in 2024.
