Rockdale state champion realizes dream
Body

Lyndy Laurrell is now a Division I golfer.

The two-time state champion was scheduled to play at Southwestern University in Georgetown, but a late offer from Stephen F. Austin has her shifting gears.

“I know, plot twist from Southwestern to SFA but this has always been her dream to play on the big stage and hopefully go pro some day,” said her mother Amy.

Laurrell is not only the most decorated golfer in RHS school history, but the most celebrated girls athlete in school history.

Laurrell is the only Lady Tiger to earn a gold medal in any sport—and she has two of them.

She guided the Lady Tigers to a second place finish—the highest ever for a Rockdale golf team.

Rockdale made four straight appearances at the state tournament and pocketed back-to-back bronze medals in 2015 and 2016.

Laurrell twice captured the golf trifecta—district champion, regional champion and state champion.
