CORSICANA—The Rockdale Scrappers finished a very successful season as state runners-up in the 15-and-under division last week.

The girls star ted of f the tournament with two st raight v ic tor ies over Teague 24-0 and a very tough Corsicana team 8-2.

They lost the next game to Canton, when their comeback attempt fell just short, ending their eightgame win streak.

Showing great resiliency, they rebounded from the loss with three straight wins over very good squads from Thorndale, Axtell and avenged the loss to Canton with a 6-4 victory.

Ultimately the girls fell to Riesel in the championship game.

This was Riesel’s second consecutive state championship.

Once again, Coach Jim Eanes couldn’t stop beaming with pride for these girls, saying “The kids represented Rockdale really well.”

With these young women entering high school this fall and next, the coach has a lot of hope for the Lady Tigers softball program moving forward.

While Eanes is extremely proud of all his players, he said to watch out for pitcher and power hitter Emma Miller next season.

“ There is talent and there are ball players. And she’s a ball player,” he said. “Great competitor.”

10U tourney

The Rockda le R iptide didn’t get as far as they wanted in the state 10-and-under tournament in Chandler, but they showed a lot of fight last week.

They lost their opening game to Grand Saline, but bounced back to take three straight from Slocum, Chandler and Bosqueville before falling to the eventual runner-up from Salado.

Their performace capped off a fantastic year that saw them go undefeated in the regular season.

12U tourney

The Rockdale Red Hots were the host team for the 12-and-under state tournament last week.

While the Red Hots didn’t have the tournament they hoped for, they still had a solid season going 7-3 in the regular season.

An extremely talented team from Axtell ultimately won the tournament without losing a single game.

Large crowds at the softball complex all week had fun and were treated to some great play by all the teams that participated.

The future of Rockdale softball looks very bright right now.
