Just five days after kicking off the 2020 season in Giddings, Rockdale powerlifters returned to the weights Thursday, competing in Lampasas.
Although RHS didn’t boast eight medalists like they did in Lee County, junior Jena Locklin won her second straight meet, winning the 1 class with a s uat of 275, bench press of 135 and dead lift of 2 0 for a total of 690 pounds, 4 5 pounds up from her total last week.
Jesenia Navarro also medaled with a second place in the 114 class, squatting 225, benching 100 and dead lifting 235 for 560 pounds, going up 25 pounds last week.
Other top five finishers for the Lady Tigers were sophomore Tatum Young, who placed fourth in the 132 with a 215, 125 and 215 for a total of 555, with a 15 pound improvement from Saturday. \oung’s classmate Haven Jimenez finished fifth in the 181 squatting 265, benching 135 and dead lifting 260 for a total of 660.
Jimenez saw a 30-pound improvement from Saturday.

Mackenzie Musto, who won the 132 class last week, bounced out in the sq uat. W hitley Boyd also didn’t compete due to being at the U I L S pirit Competition in Ft. W orth.
TIGERS–Two Tigers finished in third at Lampasas on Thursday.
Caden Young earned a bronze medal in the 132 class with a 28 0 sq uat, bench of 1 0 and dead lift of 2 5 for 7 5.
2019 state q ualifier Nathan Jeter also placed third after moving up from the 114 to the 123 class after weighing in at 115.5.
Jeter weighed in at 114 last week.
He lifted 270, 155 and 300 for a total of :25, seeing a 10-pound increase int the s uat and dead lift and a five-pound improvement on the bench press.
Rockdale’s Gavin Aguilar and Alex Ellison each placed fourth in the 275 and the 2 2 classes.
Aguilar lifted 4 50, 315 and 35 for a total of 1200 and Ellison lifted 10, 2 0 and 3 5 for a total of 1075
