For the second straight year, Thorndale’s Branson McCoy will run in the 100-meter dash at the UIL Class 2A state meet in Austin.
The Thorndale senior placed second in finals of the 100 Saturday with a time of 11.12 at the Region IV meet in Kingsville, bouncing back from a third place finish a day before in the pre-lims.
McCoy’s classmate Stryker Leschber will also make the trip to state after placing second in the discus. This will be the first time for Leschber, who threw a distance of 142- 1, to compete at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
Both athletes look to earn gold next Friday, May 13. Leschber is scheduled to throw at 11 a.m. and McCoy is slated to run at 7:55 p.m.
