Last Wednesday evening, many gathered in the Rockdale High School Gymnasium for the “Winter Meet the Tigers,” an event to recognize the Blue-and-Gold basketball, soccer and powerlifting teams.
Similar to the function they have in August to highlight the school’s fall sports and activities, they held an auction but also had a skills challenge for basketball and soccer players, along with a chili supper before the event kicked off.
Booster president Lacy Barcak was happy with how the event went.
“Our goal wasn’t really to make money,” Barcak said. “Our goal for ‘Winter Meet the Tigers’ was to recognize our winter sports athletes, feed all the kids for free, and to try and recover some of our cost. The chili supper and the auction covered all of our costs and we made approximately $400. So, it was a huge success.”
