Former Thrall athlete and member of the Thrall High School class of 2024 Avery Koonce was found dead in her dorm at the U.S. Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Koonce was a cadet and a member of the Air Force track and field team.
The Air Force is currently investigating her death. While at Thrall, Koonce qualified every year for the UIL state track meet. She competed in pole vaulting her freshman year at state and the 100-meter dash the next three years, winning a silver medal her junior year.
