In Bremond, the Eagles had an opportunity to boost their confidence while also facing some tough competition. On Thursday, they kicked off the tournament with a 50-31 win over the host, Bremond, a team made up of guys just a week removed from football. Three Milano players ended the game with double-digit scoring. Ethan Gordon and Jayce Todd each had 13, while big man Weston Avrett had 1o. In their next game, they took on Franklin’s junior varsity and took down the Lions 41-34. Gordon led the way once again with 11. Cordell Spears and Drew Demeritt also made some shots, finishing the game with six each. However, the Eagles ran into a 8-5 Somerville squad. They fell to the Yeguas 60-23. Later that day, they faced Class 3A Groesbeck. Although it was another game with three Eagles in the double-digits, the Goats won 77-55. Hayden Weaver led MHS with 15. Avrett and Gordon each had 11. The Eagles play this weekend at the Somerville Tournament. Results will be in next week’s edition of The Rock-dale Reporter. LADY EAGLES–Milano fell to Thrall in their District 25-2A opener 40-22 on Tuesday evening on the road. The Lady Eagles return to their home, Geneva Paceley Gym, on Friday to face Holland. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
